CABANATUAN CITY – The National Irrigation Administration-Upper Pampanga River Integrated Irrigation Systems (NIA-UPRIIS) office based here mourns with deep sadness the untimely demise last Thursday of one of the agency’s very own – retired general Romeo G. Gan, the NIA deputy administrator for administrative and finance.

“We salute the memory of a great leader with intellectual strength, genuine conviction and true commitment in public service,” said NIA-UPRIIS department manager Engr. Rosalinda B. Bote in paying their last respects to the deceased official.

NIA Administrator Ricardo R. Visaya joined Bote and the rest of the NIA family in extending their sincerest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to his bereaved family.

Gan last came to Nueva Ecija on July 27, 2021 where he and Visaya unveiled two newly-completed solar powered pump projects in the towns of San Isidro and Peñaranda with a combined worth of more than P38-million.

Gan was appointed to his post on September 18, 2017, replacing Estrella E. Icasiano, who earlier filed an irrevocable resignation during the same month.

A “mistah” of Visaya at the Philippine Military Academy “Matikas Class of 1983,” Gan joined NIA, bringing with him his expertise in leadership and management in administrative and finance aspects that hastened the attainment of the agency’s mandate.

Visaya said he and the entire NIA salute him as he provided invaluable contributions to the lives of the Filipino farmers and the nation despite the challenges brought by the pandemic.
