Ecija drug pusher slain in buy-bust
SCIENCE CITY OF MUŇOZ – Police neutralized a suspected drug trafficker-cum-goat-napper who fought off lawmen during a buy-bust operation-turned-armed encounter here on the wee hours of the morning Saturday.
City police head Lt. Col. Marlon M. Cudal said suspect Jerico Tud, 23, alias Ekong, of Bgy. Bacal 3, Talavera, sealed a drug sale with an undercover cop in Bgy. Cabisuculan at 1:20 a.m. but the deal turned bloody when he suddenly drew his gun and fired at the operatives.
In the ensuing gunfight, Tud was fatally hit, resulting in his instantaneous death.
Cudal said probers recovered at the crime scene the suspect’s cal.38 revolver, several fired bullet cartridges, buy-bust money, several plastic sachets with shabu weighing 2.5 grams worth P17,000, the suspect’s sling bag, mobile phone, and black Kawasaki Bajaj tricycle.
Cudal said the slain suspect was also involved in a string of robbery and theft cases in the towns of Guimba, Talugtug, and Talavera, this city and in San Jose City.
“Palipat-lipat itong suspect ng apartment mula San Jose City hanggang Talavera, hanggang sa mahila ng ating asset para sa buy-bust kaya nadale din natin siya sa wakas,” Cudal told this reporter.
He said the suspect has a group that is also engaged in stealing live goats in said areas as evidenced by the messages contained in his mobile phone that was recovered by the authorities.
