Ecija cops solve MC theft within 30 minutes

SAN LEONARDO, Nueva Ecija — A motor-napping incident here was solved within 30 minutes following the arrest of the suspect who was caught driving the stolen tricycle here on Saturday night.

Town police head Major Jaime Ferrer identified the arrested suspect as Patrick Comia, 35, single, ambulant motorcycle tire vulcanizer, of Bgy. San Bartolome, this town.

Ferrer said the suspect was intercepted while driving the alleged stolen vehicle along the Maharlika Highway in Bgy. Tabuating at about 8 p.m.here.

The police official immediately ordered a dragnet operation after the victim, Mary Jane Ramos, 43, housewife, of Purok 6, Bgy. San Anton, sought police help and reported that her black Honda Wave 125 motorcycle with a sidecar went missing while parked in front of her house at 7:30 p.m.

“Naiwan daw ng biktima ang susi sa kanyang motor kasi tiwala naman daw siya at nasa tapat lang naman ng bahay niya ito,” said case officer SSgt. Antonio Capiendo Jr.

“Walang sasakyan ang suspect, palipat-lipat ng puwesto, kung saan mapadpad para magvulcanize, nadaanan siguro yung motor habang naglalakad,” he added.

The arrested suspect is now locked up here and us facing charges for violation of Republic Act 10883 or the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016 before the provincial prosecutor’s office.
