JUSTICE Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla yesterday revealed that he recently underwent a coronary artery bypass surgery, also known as a “heart bypass.”

Despite the seriousness of the procedure, he affirmed his intention to remain in office, stating that his medical condition would not hinder his performance.

Remulla said he had personally spoken with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who expressed his delight at his successful recovery and improved health.

The Justice chief, who previously served as a congressional representative in Cavite, said he would now undergo therapy and follow a post-operation regimen in between work.

While Remulla plans to officially resume work on Monday, he admitted that he might not be physically present at the Department of Justice (DOJ) compound every day.

Last week, Remulla took a 10-day wellness leave for personal reasons.

A statement issued that time assured the public that the DOJ would continue to uphold the rule of law and ensure justice is served.
