Cops’ approval rating

IT is certainly good news that the Filipino people have given the Philippine National Police (PNP), the country’s premier law enforcement agency, a high approval rating.

Now headed by Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr., an Ilocano like President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr., the police agency is civilian in nature but national in scope.

After receiving the results of the survey, which was conducted by “Pulse Asia” from Sept. 17 to 21, General Azurin vowed to intensify the PNP’s anti-criminality efforts.

Of course, the strict but fair PNP top honcho was quick to assure the public that the men and women in police uniform will always strive to work their best everyday.

Without doubt, the “satisfactory result” of the Pulse Asia survey is seen to motivate further our law enforcers to work harder as the fight against criminality continues.

To be successful, the Marcos administration and the national police leadership need the total support of all sectors of Philippine society, including church leaders.

“Tulong-tulong tayo para sa maayos, mapayapa at maunlad na pamayanan,” according to Gen. Azurin, a product of the elite Philippine Military Academy (PMA). We agree with the PNP chief that our police officers and men “can still raise the bar and improve some more.”

President Marcos has stated, quite clearly, that his administration, which ends on June 30, 2028, would address all the major issues confronting the country and the Filipino people.

Of course, the challenges include the maintenance of peace and order not only in the impoverished countryside but throughout the Philippines.

It’s high time to step up the pressure on everybody, from the rich and mighty to the poor and lowly, to set aside our political and other differences and work in unison.
