THREE “most wanted persons” (MWPs) in the country were put to jail by agents of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) in separate manhunt operations in the countryside this week, PNP-CIDG director Brigadier General Romeo M. Caramat Jr. said on Saturday.

“This is part of our stepped-up effort to account for all wanted criminals in the country as ordered by PNP chief, General Benjamin C. Acorda Jr., who wants a no-let-up police effort to jail all wanted lawbreakers in order to keep the streets safe round-the-clock,” said the PNP-CIDG director.

The official said that one of the suspects arrested is a 43-year-old resident of Central Ma-ao, Bago City in Negros Occidental, who has been tagged as the MWP in Western Visayas.

Local CIDG and police operatives arrested the suspect on the strength of a non-bailable warrant for murder issued by Judge Mary Jennifer Protasio-Arches of the Bago City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 6.

The 2nd, tagged as the 8th MWP in Central Luzon, was tracked down in his hiding place in Bgy. Cut-cut in Angeles City last Thursday morning by CIDG Region 3 officers.

The suspect is the subject of a warrant of arrest for statutory rape issued by Judge Katrina Nora Buan-Factora of the Angeles City RTC Br. 10 with no bail recommended for the accused, who has been hiding from the law since last year.

“Itong akusado ay nagtago matapos magawa yung kanyang krimen, nagpalipat-lipat siya ng lugar upang makaiwas na mahuli ng mga otoridad,” Caramat. The suspect was arrested following tips from different concerned citizens.

The 3rd MWP, a man wanted for a non-bailable murder case, was arrested in Bgy. Batonlapoc in Botolan, Zambales last Monday by Zambales CIDG operatives.

The suspect’s arrest was ordered by Judge Consuelo Amog-Bocar of the Iba RTC Br. 71 last April 12.

Records showed that on the night of March 10, 2023, the accused repeatedly stabbed his live-in partner at the height of their heated argument. After killing his live-in partner on the spot, the suspect, who used a pointed metal pipe to assault the victim, fled their home.

Caramat said that the suspect has been listed as the no. 2 MWP in Central Luzon and listed as no. 1 in Zambales prior to his arrest.
