CIDG captures village chief ‘gang leader’ in Bukidnon

PHILIPPINE National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) Director Brigadier General Romeo M. Caramat Jr., on Thursday, announced the arrest of a barangay chairman in Bukidnon accused of leading a “gang” involved in gun-for-hire and land-grabbing activities in the province.

In a report to PNP Chief Gen. Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr., the official said the suspect, a 42-year-old chairman of a barangay in Don Carlos, Bukidnon was tagged by the Bukidnon Police Provincial Office (PPO) as the 4th “most wanted person” (MWP) in the province.

Caramat said that the suspect was tracked down in his hiding place in Bgy. San Isidro in Talakag municipality around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday by members of the local CIDG filed unit.

The suspect was arrested based on a warrant for two counts of murder issued by Judge Isobel Barroso of the Malaybalay City Regional Trial Court Branch 8 in Bukidnon on November 17, 2021.

No bail was recommended for the temporary liberty of the accused, who is now being held at the Talakag Municipal Police Station lock-up facility.
