Chef, helper drown in Batangas

A-53-YEAR-OLD chef and a helper reportedly drowned in San Juan and Ibaan towns in Batangas last Monday.

San Juan Municipal Police station chief Lt. Co.l Marlon Cabataña identified the fatality in San Juan as Clemente Nilo, married, resident of L5 B79 Policarpio St., Pamplona 3, Las Piñas City.

The incident was reported by Bgy. Captain Wivin R. Llana at 7 a.m. on July 26.

Personnel of the Police Action Center (PAC) Base in Bgy. Laiya together with Philippine Coast Guard, Subukin Detachment proceeded to the place of incident after the victim was seen floating lifeless by a bystander soke 30 meters from the shoreline on July 25 at 5 p.m.

The body was brought to the Redondo Garcia Funeral Services.

Police believe the victim had gone swimming in another place, drowned, then swept away.

Ibaan town police reported that a helper also drowned on the same day in Talon River, Bgy. Dayapan, here.

Police identified the fatality as Martin Dela Cruz, 19, single, native of Unisan, Quezon, and resident of Bgy. Dayapan.

The incident was reported by Bgy. Chairman Fred Mercado at around 11:50 a.m. on July 26.

Initial investigation showed the victim was walking along the river bank when he accidentally slipped, fell into the water and drowned.

The incident occurred at 7 p.m. on July 25, 2021.

The body was brought to the Jundo Funeral Homes in Bgy. Poblacion, Ibaan.
