AROUND 100 informal workers received P5,000 load allowance, cellular phone and bicycle during the awarding ceremony of Bikecination Project of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Monday afternoon in Caloocan City.

Mayor Oca Malapitan and DOLE Secretary Silvestre “Bebot” Bello III led the awarding ceremony of Bikecination Project which aimed to uplift the plight of pandemic-affected workers in the National Capital Region (NCR).

The program, held at the Buena Park covered court in Brgy. 80, was accomplished after the Caloocan City Public Employment Service Office (PESO) coordinated with the DOLE to help city residents who lost their jobs due to pandemic.

Only those who coordinated with the PESO and were able to submit necessary requirements, including their vaccination card to prove that they are fully vaccinated, were chosen as beneficiaries.

Most of the beneficiaries were sari-sari store owners, food street vendors, laundry soap makers and others who were not able to continue their job.

“Taos-pusong pasasalamat sa DOLE at PESO-Caloocan para sa patuloy na pangunguna sa pagbibigay natin ng tulong sa ating mga kababayang nais maghanapbuhay,” Mayor Oca said.

Mayor Oca said other programs of the city government which will help displaced workers may visit the official facebook page of Public Employment Service Office-Caloocan City.
