Calamba mayor delivers 1st state-of-the-city address

CALAMBA CITY, Laguna–The mayor of this city, Roseller ‘Ross’ H. Rizal, delivered his first State of the City Address alongside the inauguration of the Jose Rizal Coliseum on July 21, 2023.

In his city address, Mayor Rizal touted the efforts of the new leadership of the Calamba City government which changed the face of leadership, administration and public service.

He reported the urgent progress of the Local Government Unit of Calamba through the programs and projects of his political agenda tagged ‘Ramdam na Reporma’ in the areas of Kalinga, Kabuhayan, Kalusugan, Katapatan, Kasaganahan and Inklusibong Kaunlaran “tungo sa pagsasakatuparan ng isang mahusay, tapat at nararamdamang reporma sa lungsod na gobyerno ang lumalapit sa tao.”

Among the highlights of his SOCA is the completion of unfinished projects of the locality that are long overdue like Calamba City Hospital, Evacuation Centers, housing projects, dialysis and Diagnostic Centers.

“We are not just focused on one sector, for senior citizens, business sector, youth, education and agriculture. Like this Jose Rizal coliseum, it should be finished wayback so when we sat down, we immediately made it so that our fellow Calambeños could use it,” Mayor Rizal said in an interview.
Rizal also tackles the Calambagong Pamahalaan Caravan, Moral Enhancement Program, Dulugang Bayan, Iskolar ni Rizal, Kabuhayan ni Rizal and Task Force Kalikasan at Kalinisan para sa Kaligtasan as the Mayor’s Office Public Assistance Center (MOPAC) continues in providing financial assistance for senior citizens, persons with disabilities and solo parents.

As part of his major accomplishments in the education sector, he highlighted the provision of 104,743 sets of learner kits with shirt uniforms to all public school learners, ICT equipment, furniture, office and school supplies.

He also reported the building of the proposed 4-storey, 16-classroom school buildings in Kay-Anlog, Sirang Lupa,Kay-Anlog and Sitio Ronggot.

Meanwhile, Rizal also led the inauguration, ribbon cutting, and blessing together with Calamba Congresswoman Charise Hernandez-Alcantara and Vice Mayor Joselito Lazaro of the newly-constructed 8,000-seat Jose Rizal Coliseum in front of Calamba City Hall prior to his speech.

Gracing the occasion were Laguna Governor Ramil L. Hernandez, Vice Governor Karen C. Agapay, Congresswoman Ruth M. Hernandez, City Councilors, Department Heads, Barangay Officials, DepEd Officials, School Heads, Calamba PNP and locators.
