CABBIE HELD FOR RAPE OF PASSENGER
THE cabbie saw that his female passenger had fallen asleep. Like a predator stumbling upon helpless prey, he was instantly aroused. He then brought the woman to a hotel and collected his fare — by allegedly raping her.
The taxi driver was arrested following the alleged rape of his female passenger inside a a hotel in Quezon City.
The suspect was identified as Marcelo Coquilla, 52, a resident of Bagong Silang, Caloocan City.
An initial report from the Kamuning Police Station showed the incident happened on March 25, 2023.
At about 7 a.m., the bouncer of GSide Bar on Tomas Morato corner, Eugenio Lopez Drive, Brgy. South Triangle, Quezon City, reportedly assisted the victim to board a taxicab going to Valenzuela City.
Incidentally, Coquilla, was waiting for passengers and the victim rode in his taxicab, then fell asleep.
Coquilla brought the victim to Baesa Hotel located along Quirino Hi-way, Brgy., Baesa, Quezon City and allegedly sexually molested the unconscious victim.
The victim woke up at about 1:30 p.m. of the same day and was shocked to discover she was inside a hotel. She also noticed that her undergarments were pulled down and her private part was painful.
She then saw a man sitting on the bed.
The victim immediately wore her clothes and returned to the GSide Bar to verify the identity of the driver from the bouncer.
Investigation further revealed that at 4:30 a.m. onMarch 27, 2023, same taxicab driven by Coquilla was spotted outside the bar. This prompted the victim to seek the assistance of Kamuning Police Station, resulting in the immediate arrest of the suspect.
The suspect was turned over to the Talipapa Police Station and will be charged with rape before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
