AS part of the Bureau of Customs’ (BOC) strengthened anti-illegal drug campaign, BOC Port of Ninoy Aquino International Airport, together with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), and NAIA Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-DITG), intercepted a shipment of cocaine bound for export.

The shipment declared as motorcycle (MC) muffler, brake pads, and radiator hose bound for Hong Kong were intercepted and verified to contain 445 grams of cocaine worth P2.358 million.

The illegal drugs were concealed inside the motorcycle muffler.

An investigation is underway to apprehend personalities involved in the illegal trade violating RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act and RA 10863, also known as the Customs Modernization And Tariff Act (CMTA).

In their statement, BOC-NAIA and PDEA assured that the NAIA-DITG will remain vigilant in preventing the entry and transshipment of illegal drugs in NAIA.

BOC Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero and BOC NAIA Collector Carmelita M. Talusan and its personnel vowed to remain “committed” to their mandate on revenue collection, trade facilitation, and border protection.
