FOUR more teams make their much-awaited debut in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

Blackwater Elite, which will now be handled by PBA great Jeff Cariaso, and Converge, which added Willie Miller to its coaching staff, will test each other’s mettle at 4 p.m.

“Excited na kami for the first game. Finally, we’re playing na kasi… ang tagal ng off-season, puro practice,” said Jeff Cariaso, who was tapped last April after the Bossing finished with a dismal 1-10 record in the last Governors’ Cup.

“Yun team is excited to play. I think maganda naman ang nagawa namin na nagkaroon kami ng six or seven tuneup games. Medyo maganda iyon for our experience,” added Cariaso.

Focus of attention will also be on Blackwater import Chris Ortiz of Puerto Rico and Converge reinforcement Tom Vodanovich of New Zealand.

Ortiz, a 6-foot-8 power forward, saw action for Puerto Rico in the recent FIBA World Cup 2023 in Manila where he averaged 7.2 points and 2.4 rebounds in five games.

Vodanovich played one game with the FiberXers as a replacement for Jamaal Franklin in the 2023 PBA Governors’ Cup and finished with 39 points, 10 rebounds, and three assists in the quarterfinal defeat to San Miguel last March.

The 6 p.m. second game will pit Meralco against Rain or Shine.

The Bolts, now undercoach Luigi Trillo and consultant Nenad Vucinic, are bringing in new import Suleiman Braimoh.

Braimoh, who stands at 6-6 3/4, is a member of the Nigerian national team.

The Elasto Painters, on the other hand, are parading DaJuan Summers. a native of Baltimore, Maryland, who stands at 6-7 7/8.

The Rain or Shine import, the most senior among all imports at 35, had an NBA stint with the Detroit Pistons.
