ISABELA 6th District Representative Faustino “Inno” Dy V asked Congress to approve House Bill No 1146 or the Healthy Canteen law.

The measure aims to ban the sale of junk food and unhealthy drinks in the country’s schools

According to Rep. Dy V, the proposed law prohibits the sale and promotion of junk food and sweetened drinks inside and within 100 meters from the perimeter of a public and private elementary or high school.

In line with Department Order No 13 of the Department of Education in 2017, the Isabela solon wants to ensure that the schools are serving nutritious goods and beverages to students.

Meanwhile, the House lawmaker pushed for the approval of House Bill 3606 or the Improvement of Cauayan District Hospital.

One of the priorities of Rep. Dy V, the Cauayan District Hospital serves as the primary hospital serving Cauayan City and neighboring areas.

It also undertakes medical and dental missions for the needy.

The congressman believed the measure will allow the hospital to upgrade its facilities with funds under the General Appropriations Act.

In another development, the Isabela solon, chairman of the Special Committee on Bases Conversion, reported that House Bill 1215 or the San Miguel Ecotourism Zone Act, which he authored, has been passed on third and final reading.

The bill declares Barangay San Miguel, Echague, Isabela as an Ecotourism Zone.
