Australian envoy visits The Bunker, historical sites in Bataan
BATAAN CAPITOL– Australian Ambassador to the Philippines Steven J. Robinson visited Wednesday various memorable and historical sites in the province as part of the celebration of 75th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Australia and the Philippines.
Ambassador Robinson, his wife and staff were warmly welcomed by Bataan Gov. Abet S Garcia, Vice Gov. Cris Garcia and capitol employes inside the Bunker.
Proud of having the most beautiful and biggest seat of the provincial capitol, Gov. Garcia toured the Australian ambassador and his group inside The Bunker, the seat of Bataan’s provincial capitol, a seven-storey one-stop-shop sprawling building.
“Kinuha po natin ang pagkakataong ito upang ipakita sa ating mga bisita ang The Bunker na nagsisilbing one-stop shop business center na naglalayong maging mas mabilis, mas maginhawa at mas episyente ang pagbibigay ng serbisyo publiko,” pointed out Gov. Garcia.
Aside from visiting The Bunker, Ambassador Robinson also visited the Shrine of Valor in the historic Mt. Samat in Pilar town, the Australian Memorial Plaque in Mariveles, and the Zero Kilometer Death March Marker in Bagac that serve as recognition to the heroism of the people during World War II.
The construction of The Bunker was made possible through the efforts of Garcia after convincing the Allow MTD of Malaysia to finance the construction of the whole building thru a Public, Private, Partnership where the province spent nothing for its establishment.
Two commercial banks and various national government agencies have been holding office here.
