Aluminum van hits bike; woman killed, hubby hurt
A WOMAN died while her husband suffered serious injuries after their they was hit from behind by an Isuzu aluminum wing van Monday evening in Navotas City.
Warlita Samano, of legal age, and resident of 74 Orchids St., Brgy. Longos, Malabon City died on the spot due to severe head and body injuries while her husband, Ruel Samano, was rushed by responding Navotas City ambulance to Tondo Medical Center for treatment of injuries in the head and body.
Investigation conducted by Navotas police traffic investigator P/SSgt. Boy Peñaranda showed the victims were traversing the southbound direction of C-3 Road at around 8:15 p.m., on their way home after finishing their work as laborers of Youngstown Sardines, when the Isuzu wing van ((WIA-245), driven by Rodelio Lopez, of 383 M Ceñidoza St. Brgy. Mambog, Binangonan, Rizal, hit them from behind.
Due to the strong impact, the couple were thrown off the bicycle, and landed hard on the cemented road, killing the woman instantly, and seriously injuring her husband.
Lopez surrendered to the responding policemen and barangay officials after the incident. He was presented for inquest proceedings before the Navotas City Prosecutor’s Office on charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and serious physical injury and damage to property.
