PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. led the distribution of financial assistance and other services to farmers and fishermen who were affected by the El Nino phenomenon in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro.

The President, together with Occidental Mindoro Gov. Eduardo Gadiano, San Jose Mayor Rey Ladaga and Act Agri-Kaagapay Organization president Virginia Ledesma Rodriguez went to Bgy. San Jose where more than 1,500 beneficiaries have been given the financial aid, including fuel subsidy to farmers and cash to affected farmers.

Aside from the distribution of aid to farmers and fisherfolks, the Chief Executive promised to help the local government in finding solutions to alleviate the electricity crisis, as well as the problem of the farmers.

During the event, Rodriguez, author of the book “Leave Nobody Hungry”, personally handed a copy of the book to President Marcos who gladly accepted and thanked her for her contribution in providing knowledge and awareness to farmers on the use of organic fertilizers and modern farming equipment.

The Act Agri-Kaagapay organization is a non-government non-profit agency which gives financial aid for individuals belonging to the poor, marginalized, vulnerable, and disadvantaged sector.

“We are very thankful to President Marcos for giving his time to visit Occidental Mindoro despite the extreme heat just to meet and greet the farmers and ordinary people in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro,” Rodriguez said.

The President likewise ordered the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) to put up irrigation systems to cover several municipalities in Occidental, Mindoro, particularly the towns of San Jose and Magsaysay to boost agricultural production.

In his speech, President Marcos said they went there to give help to all those in need amid the El Niño that the people are experiencing.

“With our legislators, Cabinet secretaries, the local government and the private sector, we are all united to do everything that needs to be done, everything that we can do to help those affected by this El Niño and other problems,” the President added.
