A MEMBER of Philippine Military Academy (PMA) ‘Makatao’ Class of 1989, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, General Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr. on Monday saw it fitting to bare his 89-days accomplishments thru the launching of a coffee table book.

The coffee table book entitled ‘The First 89 Days’ is a recapitulation of the PNP’s accomplishment report during the 1st 89 days of Gen. Azurin who was designated by President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ R. Marcos Jr. as his 1st PNP chief last August.

The book encapsulates the operational accomplishments of the nation’s premier law enforcement agency for the past three months as a result of the unity and cooperation it is getting from different government and law enforcement agencies in order to promote local sovereignty and community empowerment.

“It presents more than our different programs and projects, as it also shares stories of heroism, and good deeds from both our uniformed and non-uniformed personnel towards ensuring the safety and security of our citizens. Moreover, our internal reformation program firmly instills appropriate disciplinary measures, along with spiritual and moral values to decrease misfits and erring personnel,” Gen. Azurin said.

The launching event was graced by Department of Interior and Local Government Undersecretary for Peace and Order Oscar F. Valenzuela, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency chair, Director General Moro Virgilio F. Lazo and former PNP chief, now retired Gen. Nicanor A. Bartolome.

Speaking in behalf of DILG Sec. Benhur Abalos Jr,, Usec. Valenzuela expressed his sincere congratulations to the entire PNP for coming up with a coffee table book that reflects the significant accomplishments of the PNP on the first 89 Days of Gen Azurin’s leadership.

“Yes, it is a compilation of the PNP’s feat towards “Kaunlaran”, which is the expected outcome of his “Malasakit + Kaayusan+Kapayapaan” formula, but more than a compilation, the coffee table book convey the inner mind of the Chief PNP, General Rodolfo Azurin Jr as well as all the members of the PNP, their desire or aspiration to serve and protect, their aspiration to bring peace to the communities,” he said.

Under Gen. Azurin, the PNP has recorded a significant reduction in focus crimes specifically murder, homicide, rape, motor vehicle theft, motorcycle theft and physical injury in the country since the start of the PBBM administration.

Gen. Azurin said that amid the major crime reduction, they have also earned nearly P620 million in revenues as a result of their National Police Clearance System of NPCS.

The top cop said that since it was implemented, a total of 4,248,177 National Police Clearance have been issued, including 12,169 to POGO employees.

He added that 294 persons applying for the clearance were also arrested after they were found to be wanted for various criminal offenses.
