THE condition of Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) standard-bearer Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. had worsened last Friday, prompting him to skip the Commission on Elections’ (Comelec) hearing to take the needed rest, his chief-of-staff and spokesman has said.

Atty. Vic Rodriguez stressed this following continued intrigues on Marcos’ absence on virtual appearance during the Comelec First Division’s preliminary conference presided by (Comelec) Commissioner Rowena Guanzon on the disqualification cases against him.

“On the morning of January 7, BBM was obliged to go in isolation because his condition worsened. It was at that time that the Comelec wanted him to appear even through a video conference,” said Rodriguez, who is a COVID-19 positive whom Marcos was exposed to.

“A judgement call was made to let BBM continue with his needed rest, since he was in bed after taking his medicines,” Rodriguez explained.

Marcos is currently in isolation after being exposed to Rodriguez and his COVID-19 positive chief security.

On the morning of January 6, 2022, Rodriguez said Marcos proceeded with his scheduled morning interview despite feeling unwell.

“After the interview, his physician arrived and determined that he has a fever and throat swelling. BBM was instructed to take a midday rest,” Rodriguez said.

“Mid-afternoon, however, he went on with another radio interview. We believe it was that afternoon interview which exacerbated his condition,” Rodriguez added.
