A DRAGNET operation conducted by police led to the arrest of two members of a notorious criminal group involved in a series of robbery holdup incidents Wednesday evening in Makati City.

Southern Police District (SPD) Director Police Brigadier Gen. Kirby John Kraft said the arrest of the two suspects stemmed from a complaint of a woman who reported that she was held up at gunpoint by two riding-in-tandem criminals at the corner of Chino Roces Avenue and Yulo St., Barangay Bangkal past 10 p.m.

After receiving the complaint, Makati Police Chief P/Col. Edward Cutiyog immediately ordered the operatives of the Station Intelligence Section and Bangkal Police Sub-Station to conduct a dragnet operation for the possible arrest of the suspect whose descriptions were provided by the victim.

At around 11 p.m., operatives spotted two men on a single motorcycle without safety helmets whose description fitted the suspects along Mojica St., Bgy. Bangkal.

When policemen flagged them down, the duo sped away, prompting lawmen to give chase until they were cornered along Capinpin and La Guardia Streets, Bgy. Bangkal.

The two, when frisked, yielded a caliber 9mm Armscor pistol with a magazine loaded with seven live ammunition, a cellular phone, and an Android cellphone. Police also confiscated a Mio 125 motorcycle they used in their criminal activities.

Kraft said that upon verification and background investigation, they were able to confirm that the duo was a member of the notorious “Rowel Turtosa Robbery Holdup Group” involved in a series of robberies in the southern area of Metro Manila.

The suspects are presently detained at the Makati Police Station Custodial Facility pending the filing of appropriate charges against them before the Makati City Prosecutor’s Office.
