8 most wanted murder, rape suspects fall in Bicol
POLICE Regional Office 5 (PRO5) director, Brigadier General Jonnel C. Estomo on Monday announced the arrest of eight most wanted persons in the region, three of them wanted for murder and the rest long in hiding for non-bailable rape charges.
The official said that one of the suspects identified as Jennifer Nuñez alias ‘Ka Jennifer Nuñez Ramos/Joy,’ a resident of Purok 3, Barangay San Jose in Uson, Masbate was arrested on the strength of a warrant for two counts of murder with no bail recommended by Judge Mary Flor Tabigue-Logarta of the Masbate City Regional Trial Court Branch 44 last September 16.
Estomo said the suspect, a known member of a local New People’s Army band headed by one ‘Ka Daddy of the NPA’s Larangan 2, Kilusang Partido 4 was arrested in Masbate City following days of surveillance conducted by members of the Masbate Police Provincial Office, the Regional Intelligence Unit 5 and the Military Intelligence Group 4.
The two other wanted murder suspects identified as Nandy Nocidal and Sammy Periña, both residents of Bgy. Cabugao in Donsol, Sorsogon were arrested on the basis of a warrant issued by Judge Henry Basilla of the Legazpi City RTC Branch 3 on May 14, 2003.
Local policemen tracked down the two in their respective hiding places in Bgy. Tagas in Daraga, Albay and in Bgy. Cabugao.
Brig. Gen. Estomo identified the arrested most wanted rape suspects as Jaime Bea Jr., Melchor Avila Jr., Jesus Frio and Joel Guiriba.
He said that Bea, tagged as the no. 3 most wanted man in Albay was arrested in Bgy. Vinisitahan Island in Bacacay municipality. The suspect, a resident of Purok 3 in Bgy. Sto Niño in Sto. Domingo last Tuesday.
A non-bailable warrant was issued against the suspect by Judge Mel Gerald Nieva of the Legazpi City RTC Branch 5.
Avila was arrested in Bgy. Comadogcadog in Del Gallego, Camarines Sur on the same day. Judge Isidora Boncodin-Zamudio of the Libmanan, Camarines Sur RTC Branch 56 ordered the arrest of the accused.
Frio, a farmer from Purok 1, Bgy. Pag-asa in Labo, Camarines Norte was arested in Purok 5, Bgy. San Jose in Basud municipality on the basis of a warrant for two counts of rape issued by Judge Leo Intia of the Labo RTC Branch 64.
Guiriba, wanted for two counts of rape in Ligao City in Albay was arrested on the strength of an order from Judge Edwin Ma-alat of the Ligao City RTC Branch 14.
