PUERTO Princesa City’s Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm (IPPF) has successfully recaptured seven fugitives over four months, according to a statement from the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor).

The IPPF Fugitive Recovery Team (FRT) carried out strategic planning and operations that led to the recaptures.

The escaped prisoners will now face charges related to their escape after undergoing due process.

The success of the operation is attributed to the collaboration between the IPPF FRT, other law enforcement agencies, barangay officials, and concerned citizens.

As an attached agency of the Department of Justice (DOJ), BuCor is administratively supervised by the DOJ, as stipulated by law.

BuCor manages various prison facilities, including the Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm (IPPF) in Palawan, SRPPF, Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong City, Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm (SPPF) in Oriental Mindoro.

New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa, Davao Prison and Penal Farm (DPPF) in Davao del Norte, and Leyte Regional Prison (LRP) in Southern Leyte.
