CAMP BGEN VICENTE P. LIM – Four robbery suspects who ransacked and carted away cash from the Diocese Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Barangay Poblacion Uno, Pagsanjan, Laguna on November 5, 2022, were arrested by the authorities during a hot pursuit operation.

The arrested suspects were previously arrested for a string of robberies, illegal drugs, physical injury, alarms and scandal, respectively.

Meanwhile, police are still pursuing the remaining suspect, who is still at large.

According to a report from Pagsanjan Police on Nov. 6, a victim reported that her Oppo mobile phone, one of the stolen items, was tracked in Sta. Cruz, Laguna, using a cellphone tracking application.

Police immediately conducted a follow-up operation in Bgy. Patimbao in Sta. Cruz and resulted in the arrest of the suspect and yielded the stolen cellphone.

The suspect squealed that his two cohorts destroyed the church’s tabernacle and took the cash in the parochial office and the money placed inside three donation boxes.

He revealed that one of them informed them how to access the shrine’s entrance and exit and the valuables’ location.

PRO Calabarzon (Police Regional Office – Cavite/Laguna/Batangas/Rizal/Laguna) Regional Director P/Brig. Gen. Jose Melencio C Nartatez Jr. commended and congratulated the operatives of Pagsanjan Municipal Police Station for their prompt action that resulted in the immediate arrest of the suspects.

“It is very unfortunate that a place like the church was robbed by these suspects. We will make sure that these criminals will be put behind bars. Also, our operatives will continue to conduct an operation to locate the remaining suspect and hold him accountable for the crime he committed,” Nartatez said.

Police are now preparing charges to be filed against the captured suspects.
