3 Talavera centenarians get P100K cash gift

TALAVERA, Nueva Ecija – Three centenarians were honored and gifted by outgoing three termer-Mayor and now Vice Mayor-elect Nerivi Santos-Martinez with P100,000 each here on Thursday.

The mayor said the cash gifts from the municipal government were “a token of appreciation for the centenarians’ contribution to society during the prime of their lives.”

The recipients of the P100,000 cash gift each hailed from Bgys. Pulong San Miguel, San Miguel na Munti, and Calipahan.

The centenarians were Lola Eufemia Manahan Atendido, Lola Pinicasion Marquez Salazar, and Lola Estefania Ramos Villiones.

DSWD Project Development Officer Ethel Cabinian and MSWDO Ma. Theresa Florencondia also assisted the mayor in handing out the cash gifts and certificates of appreciation from the DSWD Region 3 Regional Director Marites Maristela.

The awarding of the P100,000 cash gifts to each centenarian is in accordance with Republic Act 10868 or the Centenarian Act of 2016, which stipulates that all Filipinos who reach the age of 100 years old, whether residing in the Philippines or abroad, shall be honored with a letter of felicitation congratulating the celebrant for their longevity and a centenarian gift in the amount of P100,000.
