AN estimated P9.12 million worth of illegal drugs were seized from three members of a family who were included as “high-value targets” (HVTs) for drugs following a buy-bust operation conducted by the Eastern Police District-Drug Enforcement Unit (EPD-DDEU) on Wednesday.

In a report submitted to Col. Wilson C. Asueta, EPD acting director, the suspects were busted during a buy-bust operation conducted by teams of DDEU headed by P/Maj. Darwin Guerrero in Blumentritt Street, Barangay Kapasigan, Pasig City.

Police said the operation was conducted after weeks of surveillance received information that the family was the alleged “suppliers” of illegal drugs in the barangay.

The suspects were about to deliver suspected (marijuana) kush to their customers at the said area at around 2:30 a.m.

A cop acted as a poseur buyer and struck a deal with the suspects. The trio was caught red-handed for selling illegal drugs in exchange for P500.

Authorities recovered plastic containing kush weighing around six kilograms with a market value of P8,400,000 and another six plastic sachets containing suspected marijuana, weighing six kilograms worth P720,000.

Guerrero said the family was listed as HVT at the regional level.

The suspects face charges of violating the Republic Act (RA) No. 9165 or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

“The EPD will continue to intensify its campaign against illegal drugs in the eastern part of Metro Manila,” the acting director said.
