THE National Bureau of Investigation-Anti-Organized and Transnational Crime Division (NBI-AOTCD) apprehended three Chinese nationals in Binondo, Manila, for their involvement in the sale of counterfeit massage rubbing products.

The suspects, identified as Hou A Zan, Lan Zhang, and Jasmine Chan, were presented for inquest before the Office of the City Prosecutor of Manila on charges related to violations of Republic Act No. 8293 (Intellectual Property Code) Sections 155 and 168, in connection with Section 6 of RA 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act).

The arrests were made following a complaint filed by the vice president for operations and one of the owners and incorporators of Shanyong Cosmetic Concept Corp., who sought an investigation into individuals allegedly engaged in the distribution of fraudulent “Creations Spa Essentials Massage Rub” products.

Shanyong Cosmetic Concept Corp., a registered corporation specializing in the production of natural wellness, cosmetics, and wellness products, including the popular Creations Spa Essentials Massage Rub with various aromas such as ginger and tea, olive organica, night, and zest, became aware of the presence of counterfeit goods being sold both online and in physical stores.

The investigation revealed that several establishments, including 1M-2 (Ana Shopp) and 1M-8 Stall (Jasmine Chan), operating within the 999 Shopping Mall on Soler St., Binondo, Manila, were engaging in the unauthorized sale of fake and imitation products resembling those of Shanyong.

Shanyong’s Technical Expert conducted thorough identification and examination procedures, and subsequent certification confirmed that all the massage rub products obtained and seized during the buy-bust operation were indeed counterfeit and lacked authenticity.
