3 Chinese ‘kidnappers’ die in P’que shootout

THREE Chinese nationals believed to be members of a kidnapping group victimizing their compatriots were killed during the rescue operation of 2 abducted victims, Sunday afternoon in Parañaque City.

Southern Police District (SPD) Director P/BGen. Jimili Macaraeg said the 3 still unidentified kidnappers succumbed to bullet wounds in their bodies while being rushed to Medical Center Parañaque after they engaged in a shootout with operatives of Pasay and Paranaque policemen and AFP Counterpart and Anti-Kidnapping Group at around 5:50 p.m.

Authorities were able to rescue Zhou Xiang Qin, 42, a POGO (Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators) worker and resident of Gold Empire Tower, Malate, Manila and Li Ci You, 33, female, Taiwanese national and marketing manager of CBC Asia Technozone in Bacoor City, Cavite.

In his report to National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Director P/MGen. Vicente Danao, Jr., Macaraeg said the rescue operation stemmed from the information they gathered from a kidnapping suspect identified as Lorriel Lozano, 22, of BF Homes, Paranaque who was earlier arrested in Las Piñas City.

Lozano told police that two other victims of abduction were being held captives inside a house at Vicente Recto St., Bgy. B.F. Homes Parañaque City, prompting authorities to conduct a rescue operation.

However, when lawmen swooped down on a house of the suspects, they were met by a volley of fire which prompted them to retaliate resulting in the death of the three suspects during a brief exchange of gunfire.

Macaraeg said operatives recovered from the slain suspects were 12-Gauge shotgun, caliber .45 pistol, .9mm Uzi automatic pistol, .9mm Glock pistol assorted live ammunition, bullet vest, several pieces of rifle scopes, assorted Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), and National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) uniforms, 40 pieces assorted plate numbers, PNP and AFP stickers, NBI and Chief PNP badge, assorted gun accessories, one Toyota Innova van, a motorcycle, several pieces of drug paraphernalia and 4 plastic sachets of suspected shabu.

Case investigator P/SMSgt. Walter Dulawan said the rescued victims were brought to the headquarters of the Anti-Kidnapping Group in Camp Crame while all recovered firearms and plastic sachets of shabu were placed under the custody of SPD Crime Laboratory for ballistic examination and chemical analysis respectively while other recovered evidence will be turned over to Camp Crame.
