23 terror suspects, other wanted felons fall

A SERIES of ‘intelligence-driven’ operations initiated by agents of the Philippine National Police Intelligence Group (PNP-IG) this week resulted in the capture of 23 wanted terror suspects and other major lawbreakers ordered arrested by the court, a report to PNP chief, General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar said on Sunday.

PNP-IG director, Brigadier Gen. Warren F. de Leon said that one of the suspects arrested was Laurente Gistole alias ‘Ka Jimson,’ a member of the New People’s Army wanted for a murder case in Bicol.

The official said the suspect was arrested in Barangay Antipolo in Bulan, Sorsogon last Monday by members of the Regional Intelligence Unit 5 and the Sorsogon police on the strength of a warrant of arrest for murder with no bail recommended by Judge Bernardo Jimenez Jr. of the Bulan Regional Trial Court Branch 65 on November 23 last year.

De Leon said the accused has been identified as a member of a NPA band responsible for the killing of Felix Chico, an ambulance driver of the Bulan Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office in Bgy. Somagongsong on March 2, 2020.

The 2nd identified as Jose Carlo Laurel, the 15th most wanted person in Calabarzon region where he is facing non-bailable charges for sale and possession of prohibited drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The suspect’s arrest was ordered by Judge Nida Tabuldan-Gravino of the San Pedro City RTC Branch 169. De Leon said that members of the RIU 4-A and the San Pedro City Police Office tracked down the suspect in his hiding place in Barangay Pacita Complex 1.

The 3rd was Alicia Francisco, tagged as the 11th most wanted in Region 4-A where she is facing a non-bailable murder case. The suspect was arrested in Sitio Saguingan 1 in Bgy. San Isidro in Rodriguez, Rizal by members of the RIU4-A and the Rizal police on the basis of a warrant of arrest for murder issued by San Mateo, Rizal Judge Maria Beatrice Caunan last June 10.

Brig. Gen. de Leon said the other suspects arrested were wanted for rape, murder, robbery, violation of RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013, frustrated murder and carnapping, violation of RA 10175 or the Anti-Cybercrime Act, large-scale illegal recruitment, child abuse, statutory rape and robbery.

The wanted rape suspects and the places where they arrested were Nilo Gayon (Antipolo City); Mark John Anating (Malungon, Sarangani); Rosauro Guinto (General Trias, Cavite; and Jaylord Mora (Tuguegarao City in Cagayan.

The wanted murder suspects were Norman James Anipan (Bacolod City); Hassanor Andog and Maganduga Madlawan (Barira, Maguindanao); and Jovencio Diaz Jr. (Guian, Eastern Samar).

The arrested robbery suspects were Alfredo Alaska(Gamu, Isabela); Abdul Kasan (Tarragona, Davao Oriental); Romualdo Paulino (Sta. Margarita, Samar); and Edgar Lagadan (Baguio City).

Brig. Gen. de Leon identified the arrested suspect in large-scale illegal recruitment as Jeraldine Tuliao of Peñablanca, Cagayan who was arrested on the strength of a warrant issued by the Baguio City RTC Branch 5 on January 17, 2012.
