THE city government of Manila will be investing P10 billion to generate jobs, provide decent housing and upgrade public schools for the next two years.

This was announced by Mayor Isko Moreno, as he also bared having lined up plans to address the 15-year population growth in the premier city.

“Para magkaroon ng oportunidad ang mga kababayan natin. Di lang natin binibigyan ng trabaho ang tao kundi mahahagip pa natin na patuloy malabanan at magkaron ng pagkakataon ang mga nangungupahan at walang sariling bahay,” he said.

Moreno said the city government will build 1,500 units of condominium units in coming months.

Regarding plans to make public schools at par with private, Moreno said: “We will try to make a difference. Ipakikita natin ang paggawa ng paaralan na hindi lang for the sake na me magawa.”

The mayor vowed that he and Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna will introduce innovations in such a way that public schools will not pale in comparison to private schools.

Moreno said he would want public schools that are ten-storeys, fully-airconditioned and complete with elevators and all other facilities being enjoyed by students from public schools.

Meanwhile, he noted the number of residents who may have lost their jobs during the pandemic and assured that he and Lacuna will always try to work ahead of the problems that may crop up in the city.

“Pag may trabaho may pitsa. Pag may pitsa, may chicha. Mahirap magtrabaho pero mas mahirap ang nakahilata. Masakit sa likod tapos nganga,” he said.

The mayor also vowed that the city of Manila will remain business-friendly to encourage investors and traders to operate in the city and open up job opportunities for the residents.

“Me trabaho na, me negosyo na, me eskwelahan at pabahay pa,” he said.
