2 seriously hurt in Biñan shooting

TWO men are both in serious condition due to gunshot wounds to their bodies after being shot separately by unknown armed suspects at their homes yesterday morning May 17, in barangays of San Antonio and De La Paz, Binan City, Laguna.

In a report to Laguna OIC (Officer-in-Charge) Provincial Director P/Col. Cecilio Ison Jr. identified the first victim as Joel Almeda, resident of Almeda Subdivision, Bgy. De La Paz of the said city.

Almeda sustained a bullet wound from an unidentified gun to the left abdomen and is currently in critical condition at Perpetual Hospital.

Based on the police investigation, it is said that two unknown suspects called the victim while standing on their terrace and then fired at him at around 1:00 in the morning.

According to the police, after the victim’s shooting, the two suspects quickly fled to an unknown place where the police are currently conducting a follow-up investigation for identification.

Meanwhile, at around 2:00 a.m., unknown suspects also shot Jessie Cerdena, of Pedro Escueta St. Bgy. San Antonio in said city.

The victim who sustained a bullet wound to his head from an unknown caliber gun used by unknown suspects is currently being treated at Perpetual Help Hospital.

During the initial investigation, the victim’s relatives said that they heard gunshots from his house, but they were shocked because the gate of their compound was open.

However, their curiosity opened their eyes to the lying victim, who was bleeding while lying on his bed.

The victim’s relative added that the suspects wearing blue hoodie jackets fled in the direction of Bgy. Poblacion. Police are still investigating to locate and identify the suspects. By Gil Aman
