AUTHORITIES confiscated unlicensed guns and ammunition from a man and his alleged cohort after lawmen raided their house in Makati City on Saturday.

Armed with a search warrant issued by Judge Robert Victor C. Marcon, of the Makati Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 3-Family Court, elements of Olympia Police Su-Station swooped down on the house of Manuel Ong, Jr. 47 at the corner of Liwayway and Hippodromo Streets, Brgy. Olympia at around 4:20 a.m.

In his report to National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Regional Director P/BGen. Jonnel Estomo, Southern Police District (SPD) Director P/BGen. Kirby John Kraft said Ong was earlier placed under surveillance by Makati police after he was monitored for his involvement in rampant stealing of steel grating inlets within the city while allegedly armed with a caliber .38 revolver he used in committing the crime, prompting authorities to seek a search warrant from the court.

BGen. Kraft said that when operatives of Makati Police Olympia Sub-Station implemented the search warrant, they were able to seize from Ong’s residence a caliber .38 revolver loaded with five live ammunition found beneath the plastic tray.

Ong’s alleged cohort, identified as Jonathan Castaño, 46, was also placed under arrest when his body bag he was carrying yielded a caliber .9mm pistol with magazine loaded with five live ammunition during a procedural body search.

Regional Director BGen. Estomo commended the Makati City Police led by P/Col. Edward Cutiyog for the arrest of the two suspects who has been using their firearms in committing a crime.

Estomo said this will serve as a stern warning to suspected criminals who continued to commit illegal activities since the police will not stop in hunting them.
