2 Ecija vendors held for transporting fake cigarettes
LICAB, Nueva Ecija — Police arrested two vendors and seized from them suspected fake cigarettes worth more than P13,000 during checkpoint operations here on Monday.
Nabbed were Joshua Rizano, 21, and Michael Angelo Quilates, 21, both of Bgy. Lomboy, Talavera, Nueva Ecija.
They were apprehended during Oplan Sita operations conducted in Bgy. Poblacion Sur at 9:15 a.m.
Police said the suspects were riding a Honda TMX tricycle when they were flagged down at the said checkpoint.
Seized from the suspects were 61 reams of assorted types of fake cigarettes consisting of 32 reams of Two Moon menthol, 16 reams of Two Moon Red, four reams of Two Moon lights, six reams of DNB lights and three reams of DNB reds, with a total value of P13,420.
Police said the suspects were arrested after failing to present the pertinent documents.
