14 PNP tipsters get nearly P2M reward

FOURTEEN persons who provided the Philippine National Police (PNP) with tips that resulted in the arrest of 14 of the country’s most wanted persons on Friday received nearly P2 million in reward money from the PNP Directorate for Intelligence, a report to PNP chief, General Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr. said.

PNP Director for Intelligence, Brigadier General Benjamin C. Acorda Jr. led the turnover of the reward money worth a total of P1,905,000 to the informants during ceremonies held at the Intelligence Training Group headquarters in Camp Crame.

The claimants wore ski masks and their names withheld for security reasons, said the top PNP intelligence official.

According to Brig. Gen. Acorda, the 14 provided different PNP units with information that resulted in the capture of the following most wanted persons with the following bounties on their heads: Rogelio Garduque (P100,000); Jonard Alava (P135,000); Benedict Borlongan (P135,000); Norbert Marasigan (P140,000); Romark Bolandres (P135,000); Ariel Austero (P130,000);

Jainuddin Hapiron Hakimin (P200,000); Romeo Eway (P130,000); Gaudencio Ramos (P130,000); Melgar Baltazar (P140,000); Rolando Nava (P130,000); Earl Cababan Sr. (P130,000); Crispin Jimenez (P130,000); and Susanita Marasigan (P140,000).

Brig. Gen. Acorda said that the above-named 14 persons are the subject of non-bailable warrants of arrest ranging from murder, rape, qualified theft, carnapping and forcible abduction with rape who have long been in hiding until they were tracked down by the police following information provided by the tipsters.

According to the official, granting of monetary reward to persons (except government employees) who are instrumental to the arrest, surrender or death on legitimate operations of most wanted persons is one of the programs of the PNP to help. Account for the country’s most wanted criminals.
