THE Bureau of Immigration-fugitive search unit (BI-FSU) arrested on Thursday a ranking member of the Yakuza syndicate who is reportedly long wanted for murder by authorities in his country.

In his report to BI chief Jaime Morente, FSU chief Rendel Bryan Sy identified the arrested Japanese national as Toyama Yuji, 58, whom they arrested during an operation along Roxas Boulevard.

It was learned from Sy that based on communication from Japanese authorities, Toyama is allegedly an executive member of the Komura Kai Sagamihara Branch which is affiliated with the Kyokuto Kai wing of the Yakuza syndicate.

An arrest warrant was reportedly issued against him by a Japanese court for killing a compatriot 20 years ago.

Sy said Toyama allegedly conspired with five other accomplices in fatally shooting the victim before carrying his body to Sagamihara City aboard a car, which they buried and abandoned afterwards.
