Wanted NPA rebel in Caraga falls

A MEMBER of the New People’s Army (NPA) operating in the Caraga region was arrested by combined police and military agents in Butuan City on Saturday, Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief General Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr.

Citing a report from Police Regional Office 13 (PRO 13) Director, Brig. Gen. Romeo M. Caramat Jr., Azurin said the suspect is an alleged member of the CPP (Communist Party of the Philippines)/NPA’s Northeastern Mindanao Regional Committee included in the target list of the PNP and the Armed Forces.

Intelligence officers from the Butuan City Police Office, the Regional Intelligence Unit 13, and the Army’s 65th Infantry Battalion arrested the suspect on the strength of a warrant for murder issued by Judge Lilibeth Ladaga of the Lianga, Surigao del Sur Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 28.

The suspect is also the subject of another arrest warrant for frustrated and attempted murder issued by Judge Fernand Fudalan of the Bayugan City RTC Br. 7 in Agusan del Sur, Azurin said.
