TRANSPORTATION Secretary Art Tugade continued his series of inspection of various transport hubs this Holy Week as he led a site visit and inspection at the Metro Rail Transit 3 (MRT-3), Light Rail Transit 2 (LRT- 2), and Philippine National Railways (PNR) to ensure that all rail lines will be ready for the resumption of their operations.

Tugade said all rail lines, such as the MRT-3, and LRT-2 are all systems go on Monday, with the PNR resuming operations, Easter Sunday.

He added that the rail lines are ready to welcome passengers with clean facilities, restrooms, and working elevators and escalators.

Tugade likewise inspected the situation at the EDSA Busway, explaining that the resumption of the MRT-3’s operations will help improve the flow of passengers and avoid a recurrence of inconveniences experienced by commuters during the last day of the Holy Week rush.

Secretary Tugade then proceeded to inspect the ongoing construction of the Common Station concourse area that will interconnect the MRT-3 and 7, LRT-1 and the Metro Manila Subway.

As of February 2022, the Common Station’s overall progress rate is at 71.37%. Once operational, the concourse area can accommodate almost 500,000 passengers daily.

Also present during Saturday’s inspection of the rail lines were Transportation Undersecretary Timothy John Batan, Philippine National Railways (PNR) General Manager Junn Magno, and Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) Administrator Jeremy Regino. Joining the transport officials at the Common Station were BF Corporation chief executive officer Marides Fernando and Marikina 1st District Rep. Bayani Fernando.
