Trike driver killed in Batangas road mishap
A 44-YEAR-OLD driver was killed after the tricycle he was driving collided with a truck while traversing along the North Highway in San Pascual, Batangas, the other day.
The fatality according to San Pascual Municipal Police Station (MPS) Investigator PSMS. Carmelo A. Caraig identified the victim as Efren Vargas, married, and a resident of Bgy. Kaingin, San Pascual.
Initial investigation revealed that Vargas was seen driving a Kawasaki Barako 175 tricycle and traversing the provincial road of Bgy. Balete, around 3:30 a.m., accidentally collided with the Elf truck being driven by Ramon Rocero, 47, of Bgy. Banaba West, Batangas City, which was then traversing the opposite direction.
Vargas sustained fatal injuries and was immediately brought to Batangas Medical Center for medical treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician.
The truck driver is now under police custody for further interrogation, while the victim’s remains were brought to Panopio Funeral Homes for autopsy.
