A DAY before switching their government post, Navotas City Mayor and now Congressman Toby Tiangco and his brother, now Mayor John Rey Tiangco, signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the beneficiaries of the “NavotaAs Ulirang Pamilyang Mangingisda Scholarship Program”.

A total of nine relatives, up to the second degree of consanguinity or affinity, of registered fisherfolks in Navotas City, are set to receive educational assistance from the city government.

Under the MOA, the scholars will be given P16,500 transportation and food allowance and a P1,500 book stipend per academic year.

Congressman Toby Tiangco said scholars will need to maintain their good grades, good health, and physical fitness and fulfill other undertakings such as providing services to the city government if necessary.

Toby said.

The city government established the NavotaAs Scholarship Program in 2011, which initially covered students who excelled academically and teachers who wanted to pursue graduate studies.
