Thieves slaughter family of 5 in Masbate
FIVE members of a family on Sunday night were stabbed dead by suspected “Akyat-Bahay” men in Baleno, Masbate.
Bicol spokesperson Maj. Malou Calubaquib identified the fatalities as Jesus Adigue Abis, 70; his wife Adela, 67, and their relatives Jennifer, 40; Joyce, 17, and Kristelle, 14, of Bgy. Tinapian in Baleno town.
The five succumbed to multiple stab wounds.
The youngest members of the family, Angel Abis, 13, suffered stab wounds but survived the knife attack.
An investigation showed the victims were sleeping when the suspects barged in the house at 11 p.m. on Sunday.
A noise created by the intruders awakened Joyce and Kristelle. The two caught the suspects taking their phones, prompting the “Akyat-Bahay” men to stab them.
The other members of the family were awakened by the commotion but they too were attacked by the suspects.
Neighbors immediately called the police that resulted in the arrest of a 16-year-old suspect, who is also a resident of the village.
The minor robber is being held at the Baleno Municipal Police Station while undergoing investigation.
Police are hunting down the two other suspects, who fled after the incident.
