Kalinga house search yields over P4-M marijuana

A PHILIPPINE Drug Enforcement Agency-led anti-narcotics raid on a house in Rizal, Kalinga on Monday night resulted in the seizure of over P4 million worth of dried marijuana bricks, leaves and oil, officials said.

The operation in Bgy. Santos in Rizal municipality also resulted in the arrest of two suspects identified as Arnel Sanga, a 28-year-old carpenter tagged as a Regional Level Drug Personality, and farmer Benjamin Marayag,46.

Both will be facing non-bailable charges for illegal possession of prohibited drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, the PDEA headed by Director General Moro Virgilio M. Lazo said.

Members of the PDEA National Capital Region, Cordillera and Cagayan Valley regional offices, the Kalinga Police Provincial Office, Rizal Municipal Police Station and the Army’s 503rd Infantry Battalion were involved in the conduct of the search based on the strength of search warrant issued by a local court.

Recovered during the operation were eight marijuana bricks valued at P960,000, three tubular mariuana worth P360,000; two woven sacks containing around 18.3 kilograms of cannabis valued at P2.196 million, two glass bottles containing some 240ml of marijuana oil worth P1.080 million, a digital weighing scale and an air rifle.
