‘Thief’ collared for snatching TV news writer’s phone
A SUSPECTED thief was arrested by motorists and bystanders after allegedly snatching the mobile phone of a writer for GMA News in Quezon City on Wednesday night.
Based on the initial investigation of Kamuning Police Station, the victim, 23, was on her way home when she encountered the suspect at the corner of EDSA and Timog Avenue in Bgy. South Triangle at around 9:50 p.m.
The suspect grabbed the victim’s cellphone worth P8,000 before escaping.
Motorcycle riders and other bystanders chased the suspect after the victim shouted for help, and eventually, the suspect was captured after a brief chase.
Maj. Mike Diaz, deputy commander of the Kamuning Police Station 10, said the stolen cellphone was recovered, and based on records, the suspect was already jailed twice for illegal drugs.
