TAIWAN’S Ministry of Education, through Khun Sun University a leading tertiary institution in Taiwan, will be offering traditional Mandarin language classes in participating colleges and universities in the Philippines.

Recruitment consultant Emmanuel Geslani said this will benefit students who want to take engineering courses in Taiwan later on.

Dr. Lee Tien-Shang, President of Kun Sun University, will announce “The International Industrial Academic Educational Cooperation-Philippine Project,” in a press conference to he held on Monday at Shangri-La The Fort in BGC, Taguig City.

The project aims to advance Taiwan and Philippine collaboration in the education sector.

It will introduce Mandarin language to the Filipino youth in senior high school and those with at least two years college exposure under the “the study-work” program offered by Taiwan’s Khun Sun University in Kaohsiung City for young Filipino students who wish to study engineering courses in Taiwan.

The courses are mechanical, electrical, information and environmental engineering courses in one of the best universities’ in Taiwan.

The “study-work-abroad” program has been going on for the past five years starting in 2018 where over two hundred young Filipinos were accepted by the school and many of these Filipinos are now working in the electronic factories in Taiwan earning substantial salaries like their overseas Filipino worker compatriots.

Earlier this year Manila Economic and Cultural Office Chairman Silvestre Bello, who is also a former Labor Secretary, witnessed the graduation of 200 Filipino students who successfully finished the electro-mechanical courses. They are now gainfully employed by many Taiwan factories.

The Filipinos who graduate from their electro-mechanical courses are allowed to work in Taiwan and may pursue higher studies for Masters or PH.D degrees.
