Swiss foreign minister on official Manila visit
THE Swiss Foreign Minister is in Manila on February 8 to discuss issues of mutual concern.
Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo welcomes the upcoming visit of His Excellency Ignazio Cassis, Federal Councillor for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Minister of the Swiss Confederation, to the Philippines, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said.
Manalo and Cassis will meet to discuss PH-CH bilateral relations and exchange views on multilateral, regional and global issues of mutual concern.
During his one-day visit to Manila, the Swiss Foreign Minister will also call on other high-level officials of the Philippine government.
Cassis’ trip to Manila will mark the first time since 2008 that a Swiss Foreign Minister is visiting the country.
The Philippines and Switzerland have been enjoying warm and friendly bilateral relations for the past 67 years.
More than 15,000 Filipinos reside in Switzerland, which include professionals in the IT, engineering, medical and allied health sectors.
