Supremo to compete in UBL

TEAM Supremo will compete in the United Basketball League (UBL) 16-under tournament which kicks offs on Saturday, Aug. 20 at the PUP gym in San Juan City.

The team, which is being handled by former PBA player Bernzon Franco, is focused on helping and training young players in preparation for their entry to more competitive leagues.

Franco, who played for Alaska Milk in the PBA, will personally call the shots for the team along with assistant coach Ronald Tamargo and team manager Shella Santos Franco.

UBL, which is organized by former PBA player Allan Salangsang, has four divisions: 19-under with 12 teams, 18-under with 12 teams, 16-under with 14 teams and 14-under with 10 teams.

Team Supremo is bracketed in Group A, along with Bulacan Jrs, SSDBT, Panthers, Level-Up, Breakthrough and Manila Braves.

Group B is composed of Brotherhood, JBasketball, PCAF, BBSD, MOJ, 828 and Bullpups.

Leading Team Supremo are Daniel Bern Franco, John Fred Mabazza, Klinch Alfonso, Russell Custodio and Reiner Macatangay.

Franco, a 15-year- old shooting guard from PACE Academy, will lead the team in the 16-under category.

Mabazza, who plays for San Juan National High School, and Macatangay . who plays for Jose Rizal High, will man the paint for Team Supremo.

Custodio, a 5-9 player from Jose Rizal High, and Alfonso, a 5-6 guard from Arellano High. will handle the playmaking chores.

Also in Team Supremos are Justine Dandoy, Uni Cruz, Justine Elduayan, Olsen Ballesteros, John Carlo Gener, Mark Valerio, Luis Mercado, Gap Denz Pineda and Kenneth Guevarra.

Team Supremo also regularly participates in MILCU and City Hoops tournaments.
