Spot promotion for team leader in P13.3-B shabu haul
INTERIOR Secretary Benhur Abalos has granted a spot promotion to the leader of a police team that intercepted P13.3 billion worth of shabu Monday morning in Batangas, the biggest haul so far since the government’s Buhay Ingatan, Droga’y Ayawan (BIDA) entered its second phase.
According to Abalos, P/Captain Luis de Luna will get a rank higher (police major) for his excellent work in the conduct of the operation and resisting temptation on the multi-billion peso illegal drugs.
“On this day you are now promoted dahil sa kagalingang ginawa mo, sa katapangan mo and of course sa katapatan mo sa tungkulin. Hindi ka nasilaw, hindi mo binawasan ito, buong-buo mo naturn-over ang droga. Congratulations,” Abalos told De Luna.
De Luna’s team flagged down at a checkpoint in Bgy. Pinagkrusan, Alitagtag, Batangas the shabu-carrying van around 8 a.m.
Abalos said the suspect is now under the custody of the PNP and will be charged with violation of Section 5 and 11 of Article 2 of RA 9165 of the Dangerous Comprehensive Drug Acts.
With the latest accomplishment, Abalos expressed optimism that the country’s war against illegal drugs is on the right track and can be won through an effective policing and intelligence gathering along with public’s support without resorting to violence and bloodbath.
After receiving the report, Abalos and PNP chief General Rommel Francisco Marbil, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Asst. Secretary Renato Gumban, Batangas Governor Hermilando Mandanas and P/Region 4A director Brig. Gen. Paul Kenneth Lucas went to the area.
“This record-setting P13.3-B drug haul was a concrete proof that the government’s policy of bloodless and preventive-centered campaign against illegal drugs is on the right track,” Abalos said.
He expressed relief that the illegal substance was seized before it reached the hands of illegal drugs traders.
“Isipin na lang natin kung nakarating ito sa mga pusher at naibenta sa mga lansangan . Gaano kaya karaming mga buhay ng ating mga kabataan at kababayan ang sisirain nito,” he said.
