Several cities declare suspension of classes due to ‘Habagat’
A NUMBER of cities in Metro Manila and nearby provinces declared a suspension of classes on Tuesday due to extreme weather conditions brought about by the southwest monsoon or “Habagat”.
Navotas City Mayor John Rey Tiangco was first to announce the suspension of classes on all levels, public and private, followed by city chief executives of Caloocan, Malabon, and Valenzuela cities in the northern area of Metro Manila due to intermittent rain.
Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano, along with city mayors of Taguig, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, and the municipality of Pateros in the southern area, also announced the suspension of classes on all levels due to the effect of Habagat.
In Rizal province, Governor Nina Ynares also declared the suspension of classes at all levels, while mayors of Bacoor, Tanza, Kawit, Ternate, Silang, and Maragondon in Cavite and San Pedro in Laguna also suspended their classes in all public and private schools.
