ACTOR and television host Ferdinand “Vhong” Navarro is now detained at the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) detention center in Manila.

Navarro, who was accused of rape by model Deniece Millinete Cornejo, was transferred from NBI’s Quezon City office to Manila on Monday night, NBI Public Information Office chief Nick Suarez said.

“Yes. Nasa NBI Manila na siya. Sa detention center. He was transferred this morning (Tuesday),” Suarez said.

Prior to his transfer, Navarro has undergone a medical and antigen examination.

The Taguig City Regional Trial Court Branch 69, on Monday, issued a warrant of arrest against Navarro for “rape”.

Presiding Judge Loralei Cruz Datahan recommended no bail for Navarro’s temporary liberty.

Earlier on Monday, the Taguig City Metropolitan Trial Court issued a warrant of arrest against him for acts of lasciviousness on the strength of Cornejo’s separate complaint.

This was after Branch 116 Presiding Judge Angela Francesca Din found probable cause to issue the warrant and to hold Navarro for trial.

His bail bond for acts of lasciviousness was set at P36,000.

Interviewed by reporters, Navarro appeared “disappointed” over a Court of Appeals (CA) ruling ordering the Department of Justice (DOJ) to file criminal charges against him.

He maintained his innocence over Cornejo’s claim that he “sexually molested” her on January 17 and 22, 2014.
