A SOUTH Korean fugitive wanted by authorities in Seoul for serious crimes was arrested by agents of the Bureau of Immigration.

Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco said 39-year-old Chun Junghoon was arrested last Feb. 1 in San Antonio, Village in Pasay City.

Chun was in the wanted list since 2020 when he was ordered deported by the BI board of commissioners.

Chun was issued an arrest warrant by the Busan district court in January 2020 after being found to work as a telemarketer for a telecom fraud syndicate that defrauded his victims of more than 3 million won or nearly US$3,000 through voice phishing.

“We are in the midst of an intensified campaign to flush out these wanted foreigners who are using the country as a refuge to elude arrest and prosecution for crimes they committed in their homeland,” Tansingco said.
