Operatives of Talipapa Police Station (PS 3) arrested a robbery holdup suspect victimizing a habal-habal driver in an entrapment operation Friday in Bgy. Baesa, Quezon City.

Lt. Col. Cipriano Galanida, station commander of PS 3, identified the suspect as Michael Jovit Marasigan, 35, a resident of Sitio Pajo, Bgy. Baesa, Quezon City.

Report showed that on October 25, 2021, the suspect posed as a passenger and boarded the Yamaha Mio motorcycle driven by victim Mark Anthony Somido in front of SM South Mall, Las Piñas City and requested to convey him to Quezon City.

Later, the suspect at gunpoint declared the heist and took the victim’s cellular phone and cash amounting to P2,000. The driver was then ordered to alight while the suspect boarded the motorcycle and drove away. At that instance, Somido went to PS 3 and immediately reported the incident.

At about 12:20 a.m. of November 5, the victim sought police assistance after the suspect called him and demanded money in exchange for his motorcycle. Thus, an entrapment was conducted along Mendez Road, Bgy. Baesa, Quezon City that resulted in his arrest.

Seized from the suspect were the entrapment money, a Glock .22 pistol compact, a driver’s license identification card and a cellular phone.

Report further shows that the suspect had previous cases for illegal drugs and violation of Republic Act 10591 or Illegal Possession of Firearm as well as theft.

The suspect will be charged for robbery extortion in connection with the robbery holdup.

PBGen. Antonio Yarra commended PS 3 for the successful entrapment operation which resulted in the arrest of the suspect. He also lauded the habal-habal driver for promptly reporting the incident to authorities.

“Pinapaalalahanan ko po ang publiko na mag doble ingat dahil sa panahon ngayon ay nagsusulputan na naman ang ganitong gawain, kaya naman hinihikayat ko ang publiko na isumbong kaagad sa amin ang anumang ilegal na aktibidad para sa kaukulang aksyon,” he said.
