RIZAL Towers try to formalize their entry to the playoff stage when they battle Isabela Knight Raiders and Sunrays at the close of the elimination round in the 2021 PCAP San Miguel Corporation-Ayala Land chess championships.

At 8-13, Rizal is holding on to the eighth and last playoff spot in the Northern Divsion with Pampanga Checkers and Bangkok-Thailand trailing closely behind with 7-14 and 6-15 records, respectively.

IM Joel Pimentel, NM Noel de la Cruz, Enrica Villa, NM Elias Lao and AGM Herman Vallente will lead the campaign of the Towers of sportsman Eduardo Madrid.

Over at the Southern Division ,Camarines Eagles (8-13) and Surigao Fianchetto Checkmates ( 7-14) battle for the final playoff spot.

Camarines will take on Palawan Queen’s Gambits (4-7) and Laguna Heroes (17-4) , while Surigao will meet Mindoro Tamaraws (3-18) and Davao Eagles (10-11).

The playoffs will begin on Nov. 17, while the grand finals will be played on Nov. 27.
